Social media ethics concerns online and truth
Concerns of ethics and online social media is bullying, false information, and Doxing. We have all experienced false stories and relating to the news, health, and so forth. The information can make people take false health remedies. Ones that endanger others taking certain medications. False news for example C-Span could video take politicians far away. Then people use the low volume of the speakers to change and edit videos or pictures. A scammer, propagandist, or zealot alters information making stuff up and shares it on social media. When things are rumors they then can spread like wildfire to another person. Then making the false information everywhere. Hoaxing others with conspiracy theories and gas lining others for misinformation. There are deepfakes who use photoshop to make fake events, fake photos, and put words into videos of people. An AI algorithm is a decoder that swaps faces or voices. To look out for a deepfake you find they wont blink or the color and tones will be off. A deepfake detection challenge to catch them is working with Microsoft, Facebook, and Amazon. It’s a problem because it can harass, demean, and take away a person’s dignity. It leaves people to believe lies and no longer tell the truth from the lie. It makes it easier to have doubts about specific events. A lot of that was on the Big Lie of the Election. Faked event’s can become a bigger problem for courts and proceedings. Although AI can spot these deep fakes we have to train humans who can too.
Doxing is when hackers receive personal information or documents. They collect the information from social media, public databases, and social media platforms. They’ll then hurt the other people about the information that is found. It could be used as intimidation or even justice. It’s illegal when it comes to identity theft about bank cards and numbers. Common forms that are stalking include harassment, cyberstalking, insulting, and catfishing. Catfishing can become fake profiles of others to deceive people. Including fake Bot attacks. To protect yourself better have your privacy settings set better. Find things you don’t want to share globally. Protect your private information. Although it’s hard to say that your always protected. You have the right to even protect against the data companies and websites will take from you. You always have the right to deny cookies. The thing I don’t like is how companies take our data but if you accept certain terms it’s allowed. WE must provide a safer, accurate, and have protection online.
